Royal Ontario Museum
I love the ROM. My mum and dad used to come here - first year of university I lived across the street - some of the exhibits are fondly rediscovered old friends - and I always find out something completely new when I get the chance to go. It was first opened to the public in 1914, expanded and adjusted over the years, and then in 2007 they added THIS - the phenomenal Michael Lee-Chin Crystal -
Next time you're in Toronto, find the time to go - I think you'll love it too!
Wait for me - I'll be back soon -
My Week
At the beginning of the week I was off to the Borders again, to Broomlands Primary School in Kelso - then to Edinburgh for the first judges' meeting for this year's Pushkin Prize entries - and then ...
... and then I started sorting the paper avalanche that is my study.
I never tidy my study. I just live my life based on the myth that I can always find any bit of writing that's lost in the mess. But it really was getting ridiculous. So this week I knuckled down and knuckled under and culled and collated. And thoroughly understood why, normally, I never tidy my study. But it's done. Ish. As done as it's going to be.
I think I'll leave the country before I mess it up again.
(I'm off to visit family in Canada, so next week's post will be a place-holder - see you when I get back!)
Rannoch in Black and White
Last week it was Rannoch in colour - this week in black and white -
And, for good measure, a sleeping tangle of new year's cats -
Colours of Rannoch
Okay, so it rained every day. And most nights.* And the week we were there wouldn't have been the only one this autumn/winter that would be true of. But look at the colours** all that wet grayness was the backdrop for!
* It didn't matter - it was still a fabulous time.
** Totally untampered-with - if anything, the real colours were even richer.
Happy New Year!
P.S. I'm over on The History Girls today with a summery historical photo quiz, to counteract the weather - come on over and have a go!
