As Requested ...

You can download the entire loveliness that is 26 Atlantic Crossings here, and here is Sharon Fox Cranston's Wild 6 - the Great Canadian Wilderness and my response -

They are silent
They do not alter course
They do not look back
The slope of their shoulders belies
their strength
Their passage is slow
trailing tracks of snow and blood
stark at first
then
puddling
It will take them time
to put a girdle round about the earth
but the sky is patient
and will take its colours
from the remains

Photos from Picton Exhibition

Some photos, as promised, of the 26 Atlantic Crossings exhibition in Prince Edward County, Ontario, courtesy of artist Sharon Fox Cranston -

That's her painting Wild 6 - The Great Canadian Wilderness and my sestude, both looking pretty damn gorgeous.  As does Sharon.

I've had time now to read more carefully through the sestudes in the ebook (which, I remind you, can be downloaded HERE for free - it's a bargain!) and look at the artwork, and I am bowled over by the fabulous variousness ('variety' didn't seem like a big enough word).  I hope you agree!

P.S.  I may not be in Picton, but you can find me on An Awfully Big Blog Adventure and Girls Heart Books -

26 Atlantic Crossings Launched!

Another amazing 26 project has its launch day - and you don't even have to go to Prince Edward County to see the exhibition*, because there's a free download of the very lovely ebook HERE!

The project paired up Canadian artists with British writers and the results were 26 works of art and 26 sestudes (pieces of writing exactly 62* words long).  My artist was Sharon Fox Cranston, we are on pages 28 - 29 - and you are cordially invited to have a look!

(I'm hoping to have photos from the folk on the spot, and will be posting them here as soon as they, er, cross the Atlantic.)

* But if you are lucky enough to be close by, here's the poster -

** 62 being 26 backwards, and 26 being the number of letters in the alphabet ...

When I am Old I Won't Just Wear Purple

I watched a programme on TV called Poets: In Their Own Words, which included snippets from a 1959 interview with Edith Sitwell.  She has been a hole in my education but now, I have a new role model for encroaching age.  Please, for your own pleasure, drop in on the whole interview here - and in the meantime, some photos of that face -

Writer-in-Residence (61) Commits Sound Bites

Here's me in The Courier -

Click on the picture several times to get it to a readable size!

It was a fun format to do - lots and lots of First and Last questions and then they picked the ones they liked.  And, really, the headline says it all!
